Crazy Sista Cooking: Cuisine & Conversation With Lucy Buffett July 25, 2008 Crazy Sista Cooking: Cuisine & Conversation With Lucy Buffett is an excellent publication and a fun read. However, the spiral binder/cover on our copy came loose from the text/content almost immediately and all attempts to put it back together have failed. So, we are very disappointed in the quality of the binding but not the text/content. We would not recommend purchasing this book with its current binding/cover.

Believe it or not, everyone can use this cookbook. Well, it is more than a cookbook. It is a story of Lucy Buffett, better known as Lulu and her famous eating place has the same name, which is located on the Intercoastal Waterway in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The food on the menu is the foods and drinks in this book. AND, the recipes are written so anyone that reads can cook it-really. It is a different type of cookbook, filled out a zillion colored photos on shiny gloss paper and the print is wonderful too. The book tells the story of Lucy and her world famous brother, JIMMY BUFFETT. Not only will you love the beauty of this book, you will love the food you make from it and it will taste just like you got it at Lulu's Sunset Grill. Located on the water. It survived Hurricane Ivan, which Lucy opened within about three or four days and fed people free, as much as they could eat. It was wonderful. She is just that type of person. She loves a story and she has written one of the best. Enjoy this and stop be when in South Alabama, better known as LA (Lower Alabama). When you go, you might want to order the world famous Cheeseburger in Pardise. ALL FOLKS ARE WELCOME, ESPECIALLLY PARROTHEADS. See you there!! THe drinks are great, live music and great food, just like in the book.
Good eats and great read June 3, 2008 Well, it appears that fun and creative writing runs in the Buffett family. This latest book from Jimmy's sister Lucy is a an enjoyable way to spend a rainy afternoon. Great stories and terrific southern recipes with a flair. Lucy's storytelling like her brothers is so visual you can see and feel the environment she is writing about, whether it's a busy kitchen or relaxing on the deck with some fresh fried shrimp, a cold Land Shark and the boats cruising by on the river. Great fun...worth the price of the book for the stories, and the recipes are a bonus. WARNING: Recipes are not for the weight concious, but the reading is for everyone.
All in good taste June 2, 2008 This is my second purchase of Lucy's book. We love her and her great restaurant down here in LA (Lower Alabama). We use the recipes quite often...(have you tried the fried oysters?)
I gave a copy as a birthday present to my good friend, a catholic priest here in Mobile. I am sure, with his love of cooking, he will be using all the great seafood recipes during Lent next year. I recommmend this as a gift for anybody who likes good, simple, delicious food.
Light hearted and fun May 20, 2008 A great read and wonderful recipes - not only food, but lots of drink recipes as well. You must try the Mo' Perfect Margarita!
