Still great after fifty years December 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
How to Behave and Why is the book I would choose for 7-year-olds (as my grandaughter is) who have a tendency to cheat or lie. Perhaps it is the age but she must learn that she will lose friends and fun if she doesn't play fair. This book is gentle and understanding.
pleasant children unite November 7, 2007 It is always nice when your children (and in my case, this includes grandchildren) have others mention how much they enjoy their company because of their polite behavior, good manners and/or proper speech. It's just the kind of attention that they need to enforce good feelings about themselves. Of course, children who do not possess this kind of behavior will get attention, too. It just won't be very positive. The Munro Leaf books reinforce the importance of good speech and manners. If you would like your children to have these "life tools", this book is for you.
It's good, but for a little bit older kids August 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's a good book but since the drawings are all done in black/white/red it doesn't capture little ones attentions very long. It's also a bit wordy so for toddlers and preschoolers I would pass.
Great read for the whole family June 27, 2007 Ordered this to address the white lies that my kids have been telling. We have been concerned that the behavior might escalate. Both my husband and I read the book first. It was a good refresher for us as to the "talking" points for appropriate and trustful behavior. The kids read it and it was right on their level (they are 7 band 10). We had positive discussions and I think it is something we can keep referring back to as the need arises--for a few years anyway.
Cute book April 10, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Cute book, but does not hold the interest of the little ones. Timeless messages about being polite. Hopefully, my 4 and 6 year old girls will be more interested as they get older.
