Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Readers of the nine bestselling Mitford novels have been captivated by Jan Karon?s ?gift for illuminating the struggles that creep into everyday lives?along with a vividly imagined world? (People). They learned quickly that ?after you?ve spent time in Mitford, you?ll want to come back? (Chicago Tribune). Millions eagerly awaited the publication of each novel, relishing the story of the bookish and bighearted Episcopal priest and the extraordinary fullness of his seemingly ordinary life.

Now, Jan Karon enchants us with the story of the newly retired priest?s spur-of-the-moment adventure. For the first time in decades, Father Tim returns to his birthplace, Holly Springs, Mississippi, in response to a mysterious, unsigned note saying simply: ?Come home.? Little does he know how much these two words will change his life. A story of long-buried secrets, forgiveness, and the wonder of discovering new people, places, and depth of feeling, Home to Holly Springs will enthrall new readers and longtime fans alike.

2 out of 5 stars Much too long. Could have been said in half the number of pages   November 30, 2008
Very disappointed in this book. I have been a Karon fan since her first book and think this is the first time I
almost didn't finish the book. The last part was ok but much too much dialogue that was not interesting enough
to hold my interest for very long. I think it is time to go back to Mitford where the people are interesting and
sometimes funny but seem true to life. Guess I will have to end my review by saying 'BORING' for the most
part.

4 out of 5 stars Book   November 19, 2008
Book arrived within 3 days of my order. Am giving it as a gift, so haven't read it.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   November 19, 2008
I loved the first four Mitford series books. However, I have to believe that this book is written by a different author. The writing style is amateur and difficult to follow. I found this book to be extremely aggravating. I was constantly trying to figure out who was speaking in the dialog and who was who. For example, there are TWO Peggys. Couldn't the author have simplified things by creating a different name? Flashbacks are poorly delineated leaving the reader to sort out orientation in time. Finally, the constant attempt at writing dialog in a dialect is tiring and poorly executed. I was so irritated by the book, that I was compelled to write this review; and I never take the time to write a review. I'd be very surprised if this is truly Jan Karon's work. Usually her writing is clear and inviting. This one missed by a long shot.

5 out of 5 stars Homecoming Surprise For Father Tim   November 18, 2008
After waiting 38 years to return to his hometown of Holly Springs our beloved Father Tim finally makes it back home. You'll never guess the twists & surprises in store for him & for you the reader as you go along for the ride with Father Tim & Barnabas in the red Mustang convertible. You'll feel the wind in your hair, the Mississippi heat, & hear the pounding of Father Tim's heart as he hears the truth about his family & finds more people to love. I won't spoil the surprise; just read it for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Home To Holly Springs   October 21, 2008
Another well written story from Jan Karon. I am always caught up in Fr. Tim's life when I read Ms. Karon's stories. As I friend of mine said after reading "The Mitford Series", "I'm dreaming in sentences". The characters of Holly Springs have life in the words of this book. The insights into our emotions and make-up are right on. The conclusions are life changing.
