Product Description In the small Colorado town of Summit View, a surprising multi-generational mix of women from Grace Church meet once a week to pass a hot dish and to pray. But the Potluck Club, as they call themselves, is a recipe for disaster when they send up enough misinformed prayers to bring down a church. And the funny thing: the more they pray, the more troubles seem to come their way. It isn't until they invite God to the table that they discover friendship is the spice of life, and a little dash of grace, just like salt, goes a long way. With charming, down-home characters, humor, poignancy, and a recipe in every chapter, The Potluck Club will keep readers hungering for more.

Makes you want to thank God a little more! November 10, 2008 I found this book at Lifeway Christian Stores not really knowing what to expect. This was a true treasure! I have not been able to put this book down yet! All the characters give you something to connect with or remind you of someone going through a similar situation. The only thing I didn't really like was the way the writers made Vonnie look like she was keeping a secret from Donna. Vonnie had no clue that her mother had given the baby she thought was dead up for adoption and she may not have felt it was the right time to talk to Donna about her previous marriage. Donna was indeed bitter about her mother's situation, but Vonnie's mishap should not have been added to her unhappiness with God. All in all, I am eager to read Book #2 & #3... I definitely encourage all women of God and those who are wondering about how truly interesting and engaging Christian fiction can be to read this book!
A Yadda Yadda Book It's Not ! October 24, 2008 While the book itself is entertaining in a light-hearted, gossipy, way; it's references to scripture, prayer and God's intervention are also way too light. Lacking in spiritual depth. Some deep issues here, that would have been better served by the author referring more to scripture and God, than to the gossipy friendships. Not enough substance here, in this reader's opinion. HOWEVER; having said that - it does make a nice light read, if you're not looking for any solid, spiritual guidance to these fun ladies with lifes' HUGE problems and haunting, hurting pasts, thus the 3 stars. My disappointment lies only with the opportunity to address those problems in a "Big God" kind of way!
Keeps you wanting more July 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just finished the third book of this series, having read all three since I bought them less than a week ago. It's not that I really have the time to read that much but I couldn't put these books down. I literally put one book down and picked up the next. I'm sad now that I don't have another to pick up until September when the fourth book comes out.
I'm pleased with the way they were written, although they will never be classic literature. The plot lines were good, not cheesy, like many Christian fiction books about women. I loved how one book cleverly led right into the next, although it causes anguish for those of us who want to continue the story immediately. I will definitely be reading the next book about the Potluck Club.
So Pleased with this Potluck Dish! February 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I reviewed this as part of a book club and we were so impressed not just as readers, but as aspiring writers. This book, and the series, was not just co authored, but written from multiple points of view. We thought both feats were pulled off successfully.
This is a fun, warm read that has very distinct personalities I have a feeling exist in real churches. I encourage those of you who aren't sure about Clay's purpose (as I was in this book) to read the entire series. All characters, including Clay, are explored and utilized well.
I can't wait for the spin off!
Slow starter, but good book overall August 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a little trouble getting into this book but it really ended up being a nice read. The characters are not all that lovable, and some of the plot is a little far-fetched, but overall not too bad. I wouldn't give a gushing recommendation, but more like a "Give it a try- you might like it".
