Every Couple Should Read This One! December 20, 2008 Our Christian marriage counselor told us about this book. We have read probably 20 relationship books and this one goes to the root of the problems. This isn't just a "fix it" book. It teaches about 5 types of love, only one of which is romantic. It is based on Biblical principles. For those who take their marriage vows as a committment to God this is the very best I've read. It's made a difference for us.
Holy marriage December 17, 2008 I doubt this book is helpful for someone agnostic, feminist or definitely not religious person. On the other hand it gives you a different frame to understand marriage; is also consistent in its own philosophy of God based marriage. Forgiveness, avoiding criticism and unconditional love are some of the key words. You are supposed to put up even with an alcoholic husband or an infelity because that is the Bible recommendation and therefore God is on your side. Its been good to read except the last few chapters. Separate from your parents and be one with your mate.
Jesus said 'My kingdom is not of this world.' ~John 18:36 August 15, 2008 If you are looking for "secular" advice on marriage this book is not for you. However, if you are ready to have the marriage that Jesus Christ planned for you to have this book will help you start living the love-life you deserve and are biblically commanded to have. Every ounce of Dr. Wheat's advice is based on His Word, yet it is written in an easy to read format including examples of couples that Dr. Wheat has counseled. A strong and Holy marriage is hard work and even harder in the world we live in today, but it is possible with help from God and a commitment to walk in His ways. I also HIGHLY recommend Sacred Marriage by Gary L. Thomas.Sacred Marriage
every marriage needs this one March 25, 2008 A marriage counselor suggested I read this book. I had been married for 12 years at the time and we let things go. We needed some direction. We will be married 18 years this summer. It was wonderful. It gave me new hope and a new perspective. I have given several copies away to friends whose marriage was in trouble and a few as wedding gifts. It's great for the newly married couple to the oh boy our marriage is in serious trouble. I have re-read it a few times, and each time I pull something different from it. I highly recommend it!
I still recommend it, January 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this book. If it's not on the rocks, then I still recommend it, as it shows you specific biblical references to marriage and how to treat your partner.
