Just what I needed September 8, 2008 I have a 12 year old son who is beginning to go through the changes of puberty. Since I am not a boy, I had no idea what questions he might have or what he might be going through. This book answers all the questions he might have in a clear, sensitive way with funny cartoons and lighthearted words that he is actually interested in reading. I also appreciate that it is from a Christian perspective. I'm not sure what I would have done without it.
Lintball Leo's Not-So-Stupid Questions About Your Body August 29, 2008 This book was EXACTLY what I was looking for! My son is 10 1/2 and I wanted something for him to read before the school introduced the topic of puberty to him. It is written in such a laid back, comical way, that it was something that he wanted to keep reading. He read this book easily in less than 2 days. It covers just enough information but not too much. It only discusses puberty and does not delve into more complex topics. The BEST part about this book is that it is written by a Christian and refers to the Bible numerous times. What boy wouldn't rather ask a lintball in his bellybutton a few uncomfortable questions?? :)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, How you say.."Puberty!!"..great way to get a conversation going, on an awkward subject! August 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was recommended to us by our family Dr. let me preface this with the disclaimer that he. & we, are Christians :-)
So we had expectations that this would address these subjects from a "Christian" viewpoint. Which it does. Not really from ANY specific "religion", just an over all pointing back to the what the Bible has to contribute to some of the subjects touched upon. It is not trying to convert anyone into any specific religion or anything like that. It just takes it for granted that you know where their views are coming from. IF you are adamant about NOT wanting to hear how someone with a belief in the God of the Bible thinks, then do not get this book! Even though I do not believe in all "views" expressed by the author, it was a good "jumping" off point to open the discussions with my sons (I have 5!) Each one picked out different things that stood out to them to "clarify", so we feel it is GREAT, IF you are wanting something like that.

That's what it says on the book and that is exactly the case with my son. I have 3 so this book will be well used! I understand some of the negative comments regarding the amount of biblical perspective in the book. I however, bought the book from a Christian book store so I already knew what I was getting. Buying a book like this off of Amazon makes it tricky. I don't think amazon was trying to deceive anyone at all nor the publishers. There are many books that may appeal to me by the description on amazon - but if I am unfamiliar with the publisher/author I always look further into it just to be sure I am not bringing advice in to the family from a religious source that I do not agree with. If I had first read about this book here at Amazon, I would have assumed it was a Biblically based book because the author is described as being a part of Focus on the Family and the publisher is Zonderkids - both of which I am familiar with as a Christian consumer. I can understand that that may not be as obvious to a non-Christian. Having said that, however, unless a person just flat out doesn't believe that GOD created the universe and every human on earth... I wouldn't think this would be too offensive only because if you agree that God created all of us - then it would seem appropriate to see what He had intended for us and our bodies.... regardless of whether or not you choose to read the Bible routinely or claim Christ as your Saviour. Can't it be as simple as "God created man and woman therefore he is the ultimate teacher regarding our bodies?" (A person who denies God created the universe would probably not like this book.) Nonetheless - the information is fantasitic and it covers topics that can be really hard to talk to your kids about - especially if they are very private. It is very cleverly done in such a way as to keep a pre-teen engaged in the reading.

My 8 year old loved the humor in the book, and he appreciated all the important, hard to just "bring up" information that it gave him. I liked the good information that was given, but not "too much" for this age group! I'd definately recommend this book to anyone with a little boy!
