I'm disappointed... September 13, 2008 Well, for one, the whole mystery is well... lacking. Not exactly what I was expecting. The only real mystery is a stolen dress... Oh my, so exciting, um not! I guess Ms. Leppard was so involved in getting her next series going that she just kinda scribbled something down to end THIS series. I have to say I wish she had put some more effort into this book! It does not have the flow all the other Mandie books have. Only read this book to finish the series... Otherwise, spare yourself!
Good book December 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I enjoyed this story very much. I am 27 years old but I still enjoy reading the Mandie books as soon as the new one comes out.
Cool December 12, 2006 Look, the other reviews are pretty upsetting to me. I love Mandie books. This mystery might not be as exiting as the others but really, it was a good book. All of the Mandie books are wonderful. I hope Joe and Mandie grow up and get married. Maybe Mandie did not want to go to the college in Richmond, and you can't call her selfish for that. Joe should just let Mandie go to the college that she wants to go to but maybe he just wants her at his college and I would not blame him for wanting a great detective at his very own college! And maybe Mandie doesn't want to go to college in New York. I live in TX and I wouldn't want to go to college so far away from home either. Mandie can go to any college she wants to.
ok I guess July 26, 2006 I have Been reading Mandie Books for like ever and for awihle that was all I ever read. I got this Book about a month ago and I have to say I was really disipointed! Nothing really happend. The Mysterys in this book were solved so quickly that the book didnt seem very exciting. Dont get me wrong I love Mandie books and I have read the ones I own like a million time but this one I only read twice because it was so unlike the others. [...]

Not a very good book--AT ALL April 7, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
First off, I have loved the Mandie books for a long time, but my dissapointment in this one was overwhelming. The story line is basically, Mandie and Celia have only a few more months before graduation. The gang is at Mandie's house before spring semester stuffing their faces with Aunt Lou's inexhaustible supply of chocolate cake (and they still manage to have slender waists?). Mandie, who now seems to hate her rich Grandmother, is worried about whether or not she will be able to take all of her friends to Europe come summer time. So the book goes on...Mandie exhibits selfishness and unwillingness to sacrifice for Celia (who happens to be her BEST friend!) by not being willing to go to college at Richmond, where celia could be near home. Also, has the word, "sigh," escaped Ms. Leppard's vocabulary? Seriously, Mandie is blowing out her breath all the time (and she puffed, and she huffed, and she blew the house DOWN.) Joe is also getting just a bit too sappy; after all, he acts as though he has some sort of possession over her. One word of advice to Mandie: decide who you want to flirt with, and don't try to woo every boy you meet.
