I've enjoyed every Dee Henderson book I have read. This book was exciting and hard to put down. Would reccomend to anyone.
 Strong Start and Then Heads Downhill Fast January 23, 2008

I picked this unabridged audiobook at the library, having never heard of Dee Henderson before. The "jacket" sounded intriguing, so I gave it a shot. It started out fast and exciting, for about one chapter. Then, I found myself reading a Christian Romantic Thriller... is this a genre? I didn't even know it existed. I like thrillers, but the "thriller" part of this novel was only just enough to keep me listening to the end.
The premise was a woman who was running from an organized crime type guy finds herself witness to a crime and needs to run again. But, too many things in the book didn't make any sense. Why didn't she just get rid of all of the evidence she had against the guy instead of just turning over little pieces to the authorities. Her explanations didn't make a lot of sense. How could she hide out in a city where her sisters live... working in a mall??? Then the romance part, it was awfully convenient that everyone partnered up - everything about it was cheesy cheesy cheesy. The only thing that was realistic was the one tragic part of the book, which was quite a surprise that I won't give away.
The problem is that the writing was just really bad and throwing out the references to God didn't even always fit into the context in which it was being used. The God and religion references felt as though she was throwing them in to satisfy the religious reader because they didn't come across as genuine. The dialogue and overall story was extremely unrealistic. I hope, as one reviewer wrote, that this was just a quickie "in-between" book that Henderson wrote while not working on other material, because I wouldn't recommend or read any of her books based on this particular example.
 OK book October 28, 2007
After having read the O'Malley series I was a bit dissappointed in this book. I expected the same type of "page turner" content as was in the O'Malley books. The Witness, in my opinion, was a slow read. It started off great and had my attention....but after the initial burst of action, the rest of the book moved very slowly. There was more focus on the characters and less on the action. I agree with a previous post stating that this book seemed to be rushed to publication before completion. I did not like the ending either. For the sake of spoiling it for you, I won't say why, but if you read the book you'll see what I mean. It didn't seem to fit.
I like Dee Henderson's style of writing, with believable characters and convincing plot. This just wasn't among my favorite books she has written. (She knocked it out of the ballpark with the O'Malley books and set her own standard pretty high!)

The sign of an entertaining book is if you read it within a couple of days. I enjoyed Dee Henderson's book, The Witness, and look forward to reading another soon.
I'm wondering Marsh and Caroline will get together, or perhaps Susan will be the woman in the wings. Who knows? Perhaps that will be the next in the series.
Good Read but Questionable Ending June 11, 2007
I liked yet another good read by Dee Henderson. It started off strong and kept my attention. I was a little disapponted in the ending and not tying up the romances or that Amy was entirely out of danger now. These people are in their 40's for goodness sakes. If they plan on marriage, they better get to it. Okay I like very happy endings. I have not heard there is to be a sequel so it just left me wondering what happens to all the characters. A lot could be explored on Daniel, an interesting character and would have liked to see what would happen with Marsh. Defintiely should have been an Epilogue or a sequel.
