Product Description

Brace yourself for a thrilling high-seas adventure and dare to set sail for the Isle of Fire.

"A great explosion rocked the crowded harbor. Flaming debris screamed into the sky and then rained down into the burning water below. The ferocious blaze engulfed ship after ship expanding the circle of destruction in mere heartbeats. The fire rain had been unleashed."

As Cat's memory returns, he realizes that he has lived two very different lives: One as the son of the ruthless Bartholomew Thorne; the other as the recipient of friendship and kindness from Declan Ross and the crew of the Robert Bruce. Now Cat must choose whether to return to the ways of his notorious father and join the evil Merchant, or defy the Merchant and risk his life to save his friends.

The best-selling Isle of Swords adventure continues in Isle of Fire as ancient mariners rise from legend and cut an all-too-real swath of destruction across the Atlantic. The newly formed Wolf Fleet scours the Caribbean, hunting the pirates they once called comrades. And in the pitiless winds of a monstrous hurricane, whole fleets will be blasted apart and devoured.

5 out of 5 stars From the Author, Wayne Thomas Batson...   December 23, 2008
Hi, Wayne Thomas Batson here. Thanks for all the kind reviews for Isle of Fire. I'm stoked that it's finding a home on so many of your shelves. Thanks to you, Isle of Fire has been in the Top Ten on the CBA Young Adult Bestseller List for three of its first four months on the market! That feat is due to my amazing readers!

For any who come a'searchin' for a new book to read but know nothing of Isle of Fire, allow me to give you the inside scoop:

Isle of Fire is a sequel to Isle of Swords. So if you begin with IOF, you'll likely find yourself on the outside of a fair amount of inside jokes. However, I've written in enough clues that you'll carry on just fine.

Isle of Fire is a pirate tale. In this story you'll meet pirates, pirate hunters, and lots of innocents (and not so innocent) caught in between. You'll also meet the world's first pirates and a villain so cold he makes Bartholomew Thorne look like a Care Bear.

But I also try to infuse my stories with a little more depth, so there are also some thought provoking themes, such as: how do you define treasure? And can even the worst rogues change? And what about this one parents: ever swear up and down that you'll never do or say something your parents did...only to do or say it when you yourself became a parent? What's the deal with that? Are we doomed to be just like our parents, to make their same mistakes? Or is there hope for change?

Just a few hearty questions for the deep level readers out there. Til next time, sail on, but don't play with fire. ;-)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book   December 12, 2008
My 15 yr. old really enjoyed this book as well as Isle of Swords. He didn't want the book to end!

5 out of 5 stars A Great Finish to this Piratey Adventure!   December 1, 2008

"Isle of Fire and the predecessor Isle of Swords give Disney's pirate franchise a run for its money! MR. Batson has done it again with fast pacing and plenty of excitement. He continues to throw curve balls at his readers by coming up with a brand new way for his odious villian Captain Thorne to exact his revenge on the British. Can anyone say Vikings? For more you'll have to get the book and read...but trust me, you won't be disappointed!"--James Somers, author of "The Chronicles of Soone."

5 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Adventure   October 15, 2008
Once more Captain Declan Ross sails in search of adventure. But unknown to him, his archenemy Bartholomew Thorne is still alive and plotting his murderous revenge. Again Mr. Batson weaves a pirate tale full of twists and turns, treachery and guilt. Once you pick up "Isle of Fire" you will have a hard time putting it down. I recommend this book to any teenager whether they like to read or not. But make sure to read the "Isle of Swords" first.

4 out of 5 stars Like Father Like Son?   October 14, 2008

Cat Thorne begins to put together the missing pieces of his memory with the help of the Brethern Monks. Meanwhile, the evil "Merchant" sets in motion his plan of destruction of all that Cat holds dear. With the help of his friends and the lovely Anne, can he stop the Merchant from destroying those he loves?

Wayne Thomas Batson sets sail again in this thrilling sequel to the Isle of Swords. With daring deeds and great sacrifice the characters show how love in all it's power can transform those who chose to embrace it or let revenge warp them forever. This story is not for the faint of heart
Younger readers might want to wait for a fairer wind.
