4 out of 5 stars Wish there was more...   April 11, 2007
If Thomas Locke's Spectrum Chronicles had been larger, longer books, I believe they could have gone on to rival some of the greater sci-fi works out there. Locke has created an awesome sci-fi world where Pilots and Scouts are men and women with mental capabilities to navigate through space. Wander the Scout has been captured and put to work by an enemy who doesn't suspect just who or what he really is. Meanwhile, despite the distance of their separation, Consuela and Wander's love stretches across the galaxy with far-reaching effects that even they don't realise at first. The call of Consuela's heart is to rescue Wander, but the Imperial Hegemony are not making that easy.

I wish, oh I wish this - not to mention the previous book, Path Finder (The Spectrum Chronicles)- had been longer so that Locke could have spent more time sharing the world and the people with us, but alas. Because this last book was rather short, I don't believe it was able to get the ending it deserved. Heart Chaser was not the best book of the series, in my opinion, but rather Dream Voyager (The Spectrum Chronicles) and Path Finder would share that distinction, but Heart Chaser was at least satisfying in lieu of a longer work. It's also a shame that the current fad of Christian Publishers is to shunt sci-fi and fantasy into the Young Adult section. This world Locke has created is intricate and fascinating and could easily be used for a more 'mature' story for readers older than YA.

Four stars from me.

5 out of 5 stars A nice ending to a great series   June 14, 1999

With Wander locked away at a secret base called the Citadel, Consuela and her fellow crew members aboard the Avenger (including her friend Rick) set out to rescue him. This book kept me guessing all the way to the end. Tons of action, a bit of romance, Locke's believeable science fiction universe, and the overall message of Christ all fit together to create a book that I couldn't put down and was diasppointed to finish.
