Amazing book November 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a spectacular read. I got so entranced by it that I read it cover to cover in one evening. Absolutely worthwhile to buy. Makes you appreciate love, life, and family.
Good, not great October 30, 2008 Wednesday Letters is a book about an old couple named Jack and Laurel who own a bed and breakfast. Jack is very sick and everyone knows he is going to die. But what comes as a shock is Laurel dies too. The funeral brings their three children Matthew, Samantha & Malcolm back together. Matthew is married and trying to adopt a child with his wife, Samantha is a cop who stayed in town, and Malcolm has been on the run from the law in Brazil for the past 2 years. The kids come across a bunch of letter that Jack has been writing to Laurel every Wednesday for their entire relationship. A devestating secret is uncovered while reading the letters.
I enjoyed this book. Its an easy read...280 pages. Too much religious talk for my taste though.
Thank you, Mr. Wright! October 30, 2008 An honest portrayal of happiness, grief, anger, regret, love and redemption. This story covers and captures all emotions.
Don't read other people's mail October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While this book is well written and has an interesting approach, I did not find it very satisfying. I enjoy a book more if I like the characters in it, and in this case, I found I hoped I never met some of them. The story line was predictable and with few surprises. It reminded me of the old soap operas on radio. This one will not remain on my book shelf.
This looks very interesting! October 21, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although I received this selection from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, I haven't read it through yet. It was recommended to me by a very good friend and member of our Red Hat PIPS Chapter Reading Group, of which I am co-hostess. Wednesday's letters will be our January selection and we are all looking forward to reading it. I've given it a cursory glance and can see that it's my type of book. Happy reading!
