This is truly fiction December 27, 2007 Although the author does a fairly good job at creating the characters. The story line is to far off and contrived. It is just way to unbelievable. At one point I wanted to stop because the "cringe" factor was so high. The end was also very predictable. It was not the worst book I have read, but it was certainly not great.
Shadows of the Canyon June 30, 2006 Having visted El Tovar - while visiting the Grand Canyon, I can appreciate the scenic description and overall layout of the book. Whether seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, or a subsequent time, it never ceases to amaze me.....the beauty and vastness, the peaceful tranquility. The fact that the book takes place at the Grand Canyon is the reason that I picked it up to read. I have no previous knowledge of the author. The historical fiction aspect interested me, as well. The book is worth of a high 3 stars, as I liked the Christian aspect of the book and the bit of suspense, as well. I did not care very much for the romance - I found it to be a bit boring and predictable. But, for those that enjoy a romance, this very well could be a 4 or 5 star book, for you.
an amazing book all to gether February 24, 2006 the main character alex is a strong girl that has had to put up with the constent reminder of her fathers poor cumduct when it comes to his dutties to his daughter and wife.until the mysterious death by falling/being pushed over the canyon wall. To make matters worse alex has to try to protect her motherfrom becoming the prine suspect. As well as having to serve a political party that has come to stay at the canyon, of which several if its members of said party takes pleasure in making her job ten times more difficult. this story is a true example of the faith in god and his abillity to see us through any problem we face.
Tracie is wonderful October 8, 2005 When I picked up this book I thought it would be ok. It was wonderful I couldnt put it down. I thought that the one girl shouldnt have been hurt like she did, but it was a good story about Alex and how she learns to trust and love.
Perfect Combination April 17, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"Shadows of the Canyon" is my favorite of the Desert Roses Series. Though all of them ore good, there is a perfect blend of romance, mystery, and suspense all with a Christian twist. One minute your heart absolutely bleeds for Alex and her situation and the next you want to shake her from exasperation. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Tracie Peterson has a way of ending her books with nothing wanting. You never feel cheated and you always put down the book feeling completely satisfied, and yet again she does not disappoint you.
