Product Description

Jessie is book three in bestselling author Lori Wick?s popular new Big Sky Dreams series (more than 215,000 copies sold). Readers will be transported to the vast landscape of Montana Territory in the late 1800s where they meet Jessie Wheeler, whose husband, Seth, abandoned her before their second child was born. As a single mom and the sole proprietor of Token Creek?s general store, Jessie lives day to day with her hands full and her heart broken.

When Seth suddenly returns to town claiming he?s a man changed by faith, Jessie is reluctant to trust him or God with her family?s future. But Seth sets out to prove his commitment and his love. This is a timeless story of the transforming power of God?s love and forgiveness.

3 out of 5 stars It was great up until the ending!!   January 6, 2009
I really enjoyed this book. Probably not as much as the first two in this series, but a fun read nonetheless. However, the ending fell flat and felt very anti-climactic. Just be prepared for that slight let-down. The Yellow Rose Trilogy is still probably my favorite Lori Wick set so far.

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as "Sabrina"   December 24, 2008
Two days ago I finished Lori Wick's newest book, "Jessie", which is part of her "Big Sky Dreams Series". I was more than a little disappointed. It was about a single mom who's husband ran out on her several years prior and she is left to raise two little girls on her own. Not to mention that she's the owner of the general store. Suddenly, her husband Seth returns a changed man, a new believer in Christ. Jessie practically welcomes him with open arms and allows him to get to know their daughters without any reservations. Two months pass and they've reconciled their marriage. It isn't until the end that Jessie comes to Christ and they live happily ever after.
Perhaps I'm a cynic, but if a man ever left me, I don't think I'd be as forgiving as this heroine. And I'd be cautious about allowing him in my daughters' lives. It's not that I wouldn't give the guy another chance, but the way the story progressed, she forgave him quickly and started over with him in matter of a couple months. It just seemed unrealistic to me. If the story progressed a little slower, like over a year or two, then it would have been a bit more believable.
So, I give this story 2 stars which is only slightly better than how I rated the first of the series "Cassidy." The second book "Sabrina" is by far the best and most realistic. I think I would have enjoyed this series more if it began with Sabrina and her hubby and focused around them and their adventures together.

4 out of 5 stars Great story about God healing a broken marriage   November 16, 2008
A moving story about a broken marriage, broken dreams, hurting people, and bad choices. God works giving second chances and healing broken relationships as only God can do.

Christian romance...

This is number three in the Big Sky Dreams series. I like this series and eagerly await book four. Jessie teaches us about our faith and about people that are not sure about theirs. When bad things happen in our lives, God is always there with us and ready to have good come out of it. God does not make the bad things happen, but he is always with us to help us through it. Sometimes we have to look beyond what is happening now and look towards the future.

The setting is Token Creek in1884. Jessie Wheeler is working in her mercantile when a stranger walks in looking for a job. She takes a chance on Seth and discovers he is a good worker he is. Eventually, they fall in love, get married, and have a little girl.
Theirs was not a happy-ever-after marriage. Problems seemed to multiply and Seth leaves. He is gone for eight years before he comes back. He has a lot of explaining to do. He didn't know he had another daughter. He wants to be part of their life. He has changed a lot in the last eight years. He has found faith in God. He wants to share that faith with Jessie.

2 out of 5 stars Not one of Lori Wick's greatest   November 2, 2008

I like Lori Wick books but usually read them as a quick read, not usually expecting alot of depth. I enjoyed the first 2 books of this series but could barely finish this book. I ended up speed reading through alot of the last part of the book. I thought that the romance of Heather detracted from the main story. The book was called 'Jessie' not 'Heather'. I did not like the way Jessie treated Seth in the beginning of their marriage and after he came back, that issue was never discussed. Overall, it could have been such a better story...
