Product Description

Kent Anthony is a brilliant software engineer who is cashing in on a brilliant career. He's finally living the idyllic life, far from thoughts of theft and murder and other kinds of horrible criminal behavior.

He's left his past far behind . . . or so he thinks.

This story will bring you face to face with a hidden world more real than most people ever realize; a world where the unseen is more powerful than anything seen.

5 out of 5 stars Can't put this book down   June 13, 2008

This is my second time reading this book. Actually I read the trio of this story and read them all in less than a week. I had shared this book with a group of women as we all read them and discussed them. I wanted to own the book instead of borrowing it again and it's more powerful the second time around as I read.
I know when a book is a great reader when I don't have to struggle through the first part to get into the book and this is a great book from the start. I read six chapters before I even realized how long I had been reading. A true 5 star book.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing view into the spiritual world!   January 7, 2008

I have read many of Ted Dekker's books and consider Heaven's Wager the cream of the crop. He weaves a contemporary tale of a modern day Job who loses his family, wealth and identity, but continues to fight back in clever revenge. All the while, the demonic forces of evil encourage him on his path of destruction, while his mother-in-law marches against them with fervent prayer and is rewarded with glimpses of the heavenly hosts pulling for him. This book pulls back our earthly curtain and allows us to see briefly what is happening in the unseen spiritual world: the very battle for our souls.

5 out of 5 stars I can't wait to read the other two!   August 15, 2007

My first Ted Dekker book was Thr3e. Closely following was Black, Red and White. Dekker had me sold from the get-go. At times I do get a little lost in the characters, but it's the twists and turns that Dekker is so good at and you have no idea how they will all weave together. Heaven's Wager was fantastic! Having gone through a series of devastating circumstances myself in 35-8 years, I completely identified with Kent's confusing thoughts. What is real, what is a dream and how dare I think such thoughts. Coming out on top I look back and see how the wager for my soul was just as real as this characters. If you haven't been through hell and back perhaps you can scoff and say ridiculous! If you have...then you know what hell looks like. Helen's intercessory prayer walks are phenomenol. Again, if you've been in Heaven's whisper, you know what Heaven sounds like! All I can say is Dekker knows each of these paths and describes them like no one who hasn't been there can! You won't be sorry you purchased this book.

5 out of 5 stars Another great Ted!!   July 2, 2007
Awesome and consistently well done like I've come to expect from Ted Dekker. This author is amazing.

4 out of 5 stars Great Story With Spiritual Dynamics Throughout   January 7, 2007

Heaven's Wager combines suspense, intrigue and spiritual warfare into a compelling novel.

The protagonist, Kent Anthony, loses everything he holds near and dear, much like Job of the Old Testament. Unlike Job, Kent was not a believer at the time. The losses in his life pushed him further away from God. In spite of that, God keeps working on him in a variety of ways.

The spiritual battle rages on while the other human events of the book play out.

It all combines into a page turner story. I have read several of Dekker's novels. Every one of them has been very good. This is no exception.
