Product Description Joseph Stowell says that words can indeed hurt. He says that the application of God's Word can alter your speech patterns to ones that are positive and uplifting, instead of ones filled with malice. One can learn to heal, help, encourage, and warm others.

MEASURING THE WORLD February 11, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
THANK GOODNESS FOR HERBIE MARSHALL'S REVIEW ON THIS NOVEL AS IT WAS SPOT ON. WHEN I PICKED UP THE BOOK AND READ THE STORY LINE AND INDUCEMENTS I SAIS TO MYSEL "OH! BOY, LUCKY ME". WELL WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT AND I BLAME THE TRANSLATOR FOR SURELY THOUGH THE STORY WAS WRITTEN AS THOUGH IT WERE FICTION IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BRISTLING WITH HUMOUR AND EXCITEMENT, AND PERHAPS IN GERMAN IT WAS?. HOW COULD A VOVAGE UP THE ORINOCO BE SO WRITTEN IN SUCH AN UNINTERSTING WAY AND INDEED THE WHOLE NOVEL IN SUCH A DISJOINTED WAY. ANYWAY THANK YOU HERBIE, YOU WERE RIGHT ON.
Real eye opener August 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Casual conversations will never be the same again. The section explaining murmuring should be something that every single person should read. It is more than just a book about being mindful of what you say, it is more of a change in mind set and out look. Real eye opener and life changing. The world will be a better place if we are mindful of our speech.
I will never be the same after reading this book September 30, 2003 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
The power of words is not something that is talked about much. I am an evangelical, Bible teaching pastor and I was trying to find a Bible study on this topic, but there just aren't any out there. This book fills the void with sound teaching from Scripture on topics such as: Lying, Gossip, Slander, Bragging, Exaggeration, Complaining, Using God's Name in Vain, Angry talk, and it provides biblical advice for keeping the tongue under control. It also has a nice study guide in the back, which I am adapting for use in my home Bible study. Strongly recommended reading that has changed the way I think about my speech.
DESERVES 10 STARS, NOT 5! June 15, 1999 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
This book is VERY in-depth in exposing the various sinful conditions of our hearts and the sins they cause us to commit with our mouths. I thank God for this book and the author. I am amazed at how much insight the author has and I really believe every christian should read this (I really mean that!!). I am only in the 9th chapter (of 12) and I will never be the same! Just since I started reading it my sensitivity has been so heightened to what I say and I can sense a stronger presence of the Lord in my life because of it. I could go on and on but I don't have the space. My personal thanks to the author, Joseph M. Stowell, for being obedient to the Lord in blessing the body of Christ with this book!
