5 out of 5 stars Leave your complicated, busy life behind!   October 20, 2008
Reviewed by Lori Plach for Reader Views (10/08)

Do you ever wish you had a simpler life? Does it sometimes feel like you are a hamster on a treadmill, just running around in circles and getting nowhere? Life seems so hectic sometimes, that you just need to sit back and take a deep breath and enjoy the simple things in life.

One group of people has definitely found the simpler way to live. Wanda E. Brunstetter brings you to embrace the Amish culture. Through about 60 short devotional stories, you will find yourself falling in love with this unique people and their simplified life and way to apply Holy Scriptures to every day life. If only more people would see how to help others in their time of need. Some of the stories include: barn raisings when a family is struck with disaster, a missing rung on a ladder and how that could be a disaster. You will find yourself laughing and also being touched in ways you can't imagine. After each devotional there is a recipe that has been taken from Amish cookbooks, many of these recipes I will definitely want to try.

"The Simple Life: Devotional Thoughts from Amish Country" is a splendid read. After reading this book, it makes you stop and realize what the important things in your life are really supposed to be. You realize that things aren't what really matters but your relationship with Christ and other Christians are what matters.

Leave your complicated, busy life behind for a little while, and discover "The Simple Life" by Wanda E. Brunstetter. You won't feel the same after it!
