Product Description
Ten years ago a breakthrough book launched a ministry that has helped more than one million people overcome this world and win the battle for their hearts and minds. Now Neil Anderson has revised and expanded Victory over the Darkness for a new generation of readers, outlining practical and more productive ways to Christian growth based on Christ's promise: "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Victory Over the Darkness emphasizes the importance of believing and internalizing the cardinal truths of Scripture as a base from which to renew the mind and fend off Satan's relentless attempt to convince us that we are less than Christ empowers us to be.

5 out of 5 stars Deep truths lead to healing   December 17, 2008
This book helps one heal from the struggles one faces. It addresses the deep spiritual issues of the heart and helps one to seek healing in areas where they have fell short. Anderson talks about the struggle in the spiritual realm. He does not candy coat things, but lovingly is honest and straightforward. Everything is scripture based. This book helped me with many things, guilt and anxiety were 2 things that lessened dramatically. I also realized things were not just my fault, but there was a spiritual battle going on. Highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Great book!   October 5, 2008
This is a great book for doing a bible study with a friend. Wonderful insights.

5 out of 5 stars I Should have read this years ago   September 25, 2008
I actually saw Neil Anderson speak at my college one semester and recognized him as the guy that wrote "The Bondage Breaker" book that I had seen in my dad's library. I had never read anything by him, and I don't really remember much of what he said. Now, nearly 10 years since I saw him speak I re-discovered his books at a crucial turning point in my life. I read my dad's copy of "The Bondage Breaker" and was so blessed by it that I immediately rushed out to buy "Victory Over the Darkness." I have been immeasurably blessed and strengthened in faith by this book. There is nothing magic to Anderson's approach. It's just the truth of the Bible explained in simple, easy to read language. His personal stories are very encouraging to those struggling with their faith walk. I will be getting my hands on anything Anderson writes. Not that he is so special, but that God has gifted him to explain truth in such a powerful way. I know that this book will bless you as much as it did me.

5 out of 5 stars Spiritual Warfare   June 13, 2008
This is a foundational work for anyone interested in Christian Spiritual warfare. If you're self-image is in tatters or you feel like your spiritual life is being hindered by the enemy, this book will be helpful. It is well documented, integrates biblical scriptures and is very practical. The book is the result of the authors own battle with the enemy and how he is winning. The cover of the book is revealing: A hunched over man in a darker world walking out into the light and straightening up as he does so.

3 out of 5 stars The power of indentity   May 25, 2008
I really want to give this book more than three stars because it is a necessary corrective to many church's teachings that we are all wretched sinners. Anderson uses the scriptures to show us that this is not how God sees us. It is this false conception of ourselves which restrains our Christian growth. However after that good start, this book lacks the practical steps of how to build-up an accurate self-identity. Anderson makes it sound very simple - you simply choose to change your view of yourself and it happens. In reality, this is a process. There is no mention in this book of how fellowship in small groups or accountability partners can be a part of this process. Also, the chapters on unforgivness and marital relationships were off the topic.
